Nadja Maher

Nadja completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts Specialisation degree at the University of South Australia in November 2011. She was nominated for the JamFactory SALA award earlier in the year and also received the Design Institute of Australia Professional Encouragement Award for her Graduate exhibition work. Nadja is currently extending her education through the JamFactory Associates Program and continuing to flourish as an emerging contemporary jeweller and silversmith.

Much of her work is focused on taking the forms in nature that we recognise and abstracting them, so they start to generate new forms and new ideas. Each piece is imagined, considered and then created. The softly yielding forms and delicate, organic shapes allude to a sense of fragility, even in hardened metal.
